All Black Caleb Clarke admits dangerous driving: NZ media

All Blacks wing Caleb Clarke said he was "extremely apologetic" Monday after admitting to dangerous driving charges, New Zealand media reported.

The 29-Test All Black reportedly said he "made an error of judgement" while riding his motorbike through New Zealand's largest city Auckland in December 2024.

"I'm extremely apologetic and embarrassed," he reportedly told public broadcaster Radio New Zealand in a statement.

"The court and employment processes are ongoing and I am now going to focus fully on my rugby."

Clarke failed to stop when police tried to pull him over, the New Zealand Herald reported.

He was charged with one count of driving in a dangerous manner and one count of failing to stop, Radio New Zealand said.

The 25-year-old would be seeking to have the charges dismissed without conviction, local media reported.

Governing body New Zealand Rugby said it was "aware of a driving incident last year involving Caleb Clarke".

"Caleb has taken full responsibility for his actions and the matter is now subject to an employment process," it told AFP in a statement.

Clarke has started both games for Auckland Blues in this year's Super Rugby Pacific competition.

The defending champions have slumped to the bottom of the standings through two rounds.
